Pre-installed Operating System Choices

Choose an operating system OS that you want pre-installed on your PC from the choices below. To order the OS you want, before you click 'Add to Cart' for your PC select that OS from the drop down menu.

We recommend Linux Mint or Ubuntu, hey it drops the price of the PC for you and they're very cool! If you want any other Linux distro, and they're all great, for example MX Linux, Debian, Manjaro or Fedora no problem just let us know we'll install that instead! Here's a website distrowatch.com that lists by popularity the many Linux versions or distros.

See how you save on a new PC with Linux and also how we choose the OS.

Recent updates to OS choices:

September 12, 2024. Updated Ubuntu version to Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.1 LTS 64 bit, Long Term Support (LTS) release.

August 1, 2024. Updated Linux Mint version to Linux Mint 22 "Wilma" MATE 64 bit, Long Term Support (LTS) release.

OS Operating System

Linux Mint 22 "Wilma" MATE 64 bit Edition

Long Term Support (LTS) release, supported till 2029! Installed and installation DVD included! Includes Firefox browser, LibreOffice a full office suite, music and video players, and more free software packages you can imagine!

Or

Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.1 LTS 64 bit

Long Term Support (LTS) release, which means five years of free security and maintenance updates! Installed and installation DVD included! Includes Firefox browser, LibreOffice a full office suite, music and video players, and more free software packages you can imagine!

Or

Microsoft Windows 11 Home 64-bit

Installed and installation OEM DVD included. For when you're forced to have Windows for some reason lol. We don't recommend it, it's a hassle to install, and Microsoft forces you to open a Microsoft account to install it, which they then need to verify from a cell phone or email address and they even require your birth date as of our last install on writing this! If you choose this option be prepared to provide us all that info otherwise we can't install it. Do you really want that lol. That's just one reason why we don't recommend Windows. We include the option here mainly to show how much you'll save by choosing Linux. We recommend Linux.

Or

Dual Boot Linux and Windows

It'll be the computer cost with Windows plus the cost of a second solid state drive plus $39 for the dual OS installation service. Most of you will be fine with just Linux in our view! If you need this option just contact us.

Due to fast changing technology, supply factors and dropping prices we may substitute a part for another we consider the same or better with no increase in price.

November 17, 2015. Upgraded video card to NVIDIA GTX 970 chipset. This should give you maximum detail settings at 2560x1440 (1440p) gaming with the right monitor and potential to upgrade to SLI in the future and maybe even 4K gaming at some settings. Upgraded memory to DDR4-2400 sticks. Changed motherboard slightly better deal on this one, pretty much same specs. Enjoy!

September 12, 2015. Increased capacity of SSD to 250 GB and changed to a SATA SSD from a PCI Express SSD which are still hard to come by and expensive. However used a 2.5 inch form factor SATA SSD thereby keeping the motherboard M.2 slot open for future expansion to a M.2 PCI Express NVMe SSD.

August 8, 2015. Updated storage to a PCI Express Gen 3.0 x 4 lanes interface in a M.2 form factor. That's so fast you'll be flying!

June 1, 2015. Dropped SSD, changed video card to GTX 960, and went to standard memory to make PC more affordable. As a reminder one can upgrade any part for a different price if needed.

April 19, 2015. Big overhaul in design, big drop in price! Changed focus to make this an 'affordable' extreme gaming PC from previously a flagship gaming PC that looked good on paper but was out of reach for most. This new build seeks extreme gaming performance at an 'affordable' price. Also more challenging to design but think we've got something great here!

April 17, 2015. Changed the form factor of the Solid State Drive SSD to SATA 2.5 inch internal drive from SATA M.2 form factor. While there are plenty of case drive bays available, there is only one M.2 slot on the motherboard. This move keeps the M.2 slot on the motherboard free for a potential future addition of a PCIe M.2 SSD which is substantially faster than a SATA M.2 SSD. Since these PCIe M.2 SSDs are crazy expensive now, it makes sense to wait for those prices to come down, keeping the M.2 slot open for it.

March 26, 2015. Changed Solid State Drive SSD to Crucial 250 GB MX200 with faster read write speeds and more storage capacity.
