Pre-installed Operating System Choices

Choose an operating system OS that you want pre-installed on your PC from the choices below. To order the OS you want, before you click 'Add to Cart' for your PC select that OS from the drop down menu.

We recommend Linux Mint or Ubuntu, hey it drops the price of the PC for you and they're very cool! If you want any other Linux distro, and they're all great, for example MX Linux, Debian, Manjaro or Fedora no problem just let us know we'll install that instead! Here's a website distrowatch.com that lists by popularity the many Linux versions or distros.

See how you save on a new PC with Linux and also how we choose the OS.

Recent updates to OS choices:

September 12, 2024. Updated Ubuntu version to Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.1 LTS 64 bit, Long Term Support (LTS) release.

August 1, 2024. Updated Linux Mint version to Linux Mint 22 "Wilma" MATE 64 bit, Long Term Support (LTS) release.

OS Operating System

Linux Mint 22 "Wilma" MATE 64 bit Edition

Long Term Support (LTS) release, supported till 2029! Installed and installation DVD included! Includes Firefox browser, LibreOffice a full office suite, music and video players, and more free software packages you can imagine!

Or

Ubuntu Desktop 24.04.1 LTS 64 bit

Long Term Support (LTS) release, which means five years of free security and maintenance updates! Installed and installation DVD included! Includes Firefox browser, LibreOffice a full office suite, music and video players, and more free software packages you can imagine!

Or

Microsoft Windows 11 Home 64-bit

Installed and installation OEM DVD included. For when you're forced to have Windows for some reason lol. We don't recommend it, it's a hassle to install, and Microsoft forces you to open a Microsoft account to install it, which they then need to verify from a cell phone or email address and they even require your birth date as of our last install on writing this! If you choose this option be prepared to provide us all that info otherwise we can't install it. Do you really want that lol. That's just one reason why we don't recommend Windows. We include the option here mainly to show how much you'll save by choosing Linux. We recommend Linux.

Or

Dual Boot Linux and Windows

It'll be the computer cost with Windows plus the cost of a second solid state drive plus $39 for the dual OS installation service. Most of you will be fine with just Linux in our view! If you need this option just contact us.

Due to fast changing technology, supply factors and dropping prices we may substitute a part for another we consider the same or better with no increase in price.

July 11, 2016. Upgraded SSD capacity to 500 GB and dropped hard drive. Now just super fast SSD storage with ample storage capacity for most. Add more storage anytime.

April 26, 2016. Took the Sense PC build and added more memory and also more storage via a hard drive, in addition to the SSD, for those who need it. Presenting this new model Sense PC 2!

April 4, 2016. Upgraded CPU and motherboard to Intel 6th generation Skylake architecture. Upgraded memory to DDR4.

December 27, 2015. Upgraded SSD model.

December 3, 2015. Upgraded SSD model.

November 17, 2015. Changed SSD to SanDisk X110, better deal, able to drop price of the PC! With Western Digital buying SanDisk, SanDisk's profile has been elevated. Been using Western Digital's traditional hard drives for years very satisfied with that company.

November 10, 2015. Upgraded SSD to Crucial MX200 from Crucial BX100, includes AES 256-bit encryption features if needed and it's faster!

October 9, 2015. Upgraded storage to a 250 GB SSD (solid state drive) instead of a 1 TB traditional hard drive. This is a big jump in performance! The time for SSDs is now! You can always add more storage with more SSDs or traditional hard drives if you ever need more.

October 5, 2015. Upgraded motherboard chipset to Intel's B85 Express chipset from the Intel H81 Express chipset since motherboard prices have fallen. More future upgrade and expansion options available now. If you ever want to add more SSDs or hard drives, the B85 Express chipset gives you 4 SATA 6 Gbps ports and 2 SATA 3 Gbps ports instead of 2 and 2 respectively with the H81. If you ever want to add a video card you'll have a faster connection, B85 gives you a PCI Express x 16 Gen 3.0 slot instead of Gen 2.0 with H81. Also now 4 memory slots for memory expansion with a maximum capacity of 32 GB, instead of the prior 2 memory slots for a maximum of 16 GB. Well worth it.

July 28, 2015. Changed memory to one memory stick of 4 GB instead of 2 sticks of 2 GB. This allows for a lower PC price and leaves an open memory slot where one can add another 4 GB stick anytime in the future. The drop in the price of 4 GB memory sticks makes this move practical. Also earlier to upgrade memory size you would have to discard the 2 GB sticks for two 4 GB sticks which is a waste. The memory will run in single channel mode but the difference between single and dual channel mode in real apps is negligible. Great!

July 28, 2015. You know what, reverting back to a micro-ATX case and motherboard. It just has more slots for greater expansion capabilities some of you might need compared to mini-ITX. Also micro-ATX motherboards believe it or not, though larger, are still cheaper in general than mini-ITX so you save a bit as well.

July 23, 2015. Going smaller! Now with a mini-ITX motherboard and case size, previously both were micro-ATX size. Still retaining upgrade and expansion capability including a potential future addition of a separate video card if desired.

January 22, 2015. Changed PSU to 450W PSU, has great connectors and sufficient spare capacity for potential future upgrades.

November 19, 2014. Upgraded memory to 4GB (2 sticks of 2GB) from 2GB (1 stick of 2GB). This gets the benefits of dual channel memory and of course, twice the memory capacity. It has increased the price, but think it's worth it.
